I called linksys to see if there were any known problems with the 64 bit operating system. Tech support was baffled. I did some more trouble shooting and realized the difference between my two machines. I had more devices that used power from the USB ports on the 64 bit machine. The problem was not with the operating system at all. It was the fact that I was using the USB bus to power the device as well as other devices.
My solution was to get an externally powered USB hub to power the adapter. Now it is stable on the 64 bit machine. Pros: Its pretty fast. Small and comes with a stand.
Cons: Had an amazingly frustrating installation. Windows 7 drivers were not working correctly regardless of where the drivers came from cdrom, linksys website, and from windows 7. Putting the install in vista compatibility mode fixed the problem. Unless you really do not know what you are doing, the linksys software is just worthless.
